POSITION SUMMARY
The Grant Writer prepares proposals and reports for Foundation, Government, and Corporate donors. This position is responsible for supporting Center Theatre Group in achieving its Institutional fundraising goals with a focus on grant writing. Duties also include the production of correspondence and support documents as well as donor cultivation, funder research, and proofreading and editing responsibilities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manages a personal portfolio of current and prospective donors with an emphasis on Foundation Officers through meetings, phone calls and other donor cultivation strategies.
2. Produces proposals and reports to Foundation, Government, and Corporate donors.
3. Copyedits and proofreads proposals, applications, reports, donor publications, and other documents.
4. Produces correspondence regarding grant administration, including thank-you letters, queries, cover letters, renewal letters, and updates.
5. Prepares documents as part of grant applications and reports, including budgets, expense reports, bios, and season play lists.
6. Researches and identifies new funding sources.
7. Oversees Foundation, Government, Corporate Circle, and Corporate Sponsorship funder credits in all donor publications.
8. Assists with the preparation and implementation of donor cultivation plans.
9. Other duties as assigned.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Enters Foundation, Government, and Corporate gifts, and maintains donor information in database.
2. Liaises with the Development staff and other departments in the collection of program information needed for proposals and reports, including statistics, brochures, programs, study guides, pictures, thank-you notes, ticket sales reports, and reviews.
3. Prepares application packages for Foundation, Government, and Corporate grant proposals, including photocopying, filing, and mailing.
4. Works as a team member with the rest of the Development staff at a minimum of twelve special events each calendar year.
5. Attends meetings and takes notes when necessary.
6. Maintains good work habits including promptness, adherence to workplace policies, and preparedness for meetings and events.
7. Exhibits responsive follow-through on all donor, supervisor, and staff requests.
8. Maintains a positive attitude with donors and staff.
9. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and essential skills
1. Outstanding writing and proofreading skills
2. Ability to prepare budget information for proposals and reports
3. Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
4. Ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds
5. Available to work a flexible schedule as needed. This position is full-time requiring timely attendance.
Essential qualities and abilities

5. Ability to use Window-based computer with keyboard and mouse operation
6. Capacity to carry 20 pounds (e.g., brochures, gifts, etc.) for a distance of at least 50 feet.
Education, Experience and Licensing
1. Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
2. Previous grant writing experience
3. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
4. Database experience
5. Enthusiasm for raising support for the theatre
6. Background in - or knowledge of - theatre arts preferred
