MetLife Foundation and National Guild Announce Grants and Training Support for Arts Education Partnerships
The MetLife Foundation Partners in Arts Education Grants are designed to support partnerships that:
- Exemplify best practices in creating and sustaining effective partnership;
- Demonstrate joint creation of programming and curricula;
- Provide high quality arts education experiences;
- Prioritize student learning and achievement in the arts;
- Serve large numbers of public school students during the school day or extended day; and
- Address national, state, and/or local arts education standards.
In order to apply, organizations must be (or become, no later than May 13) members of the National Guild. Membership is open to tax-exempt organizations, government agency, or divisions thereof, which offer arts learning opportunities and are committed to the values of quality, accessibility and accountability. Examples of Full member institutions : community schools of the arts, arts and cultural centers, and community divisions of arts centers, universities and colleges, museums, dance and theater companies, government agencies and others. (Please note that public schools are not eligible for membership.)
Programs that are eligible for consideration must be a partnership with one or more public school in LA County and must serve no fewer than 100 K-12 students with a minimum of 10 classes per semester, 20 per year).

MetLife Foundation and the National Guild for Community Arts Education are pleased to announce the renewal of the MetLife Foundation Partners in Arts Education Program. The national initiative, now in its seventh year, aims to improve teaching and learning in the arts by supporting and promoting sustainable partnerships between community arts education organizations and public schools. Grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded to support arts education partnerships during the 2011-2012 school year.
During the current school year, more than 6,000 students in eight cities are receiving year-long arts instruction thanks to 12 partnerships funded by the Partners in Arts Education Program.
Application guidelines and program details are available on the National Guild's website. Grants are available in 32 cities and metropolitan areas, as listed in the guidelines. The application deadline is 5:00pm (EDT) on Friday, May 20, 2011.
*Only organizations that are Full Members in good standing of the National Guild for Community Arts Education may apply. Non-member organizations should submit a membership application and first-year dues payments at least one week prior to submitting an application.
